Whether cruising to a wedding, prom or special event, you deserve a safe ride. Limousines are often used for these special events, but they can also be prone to crashes and other issues. Stretch limousines are often modified vehicles that lack safety regulations like seat belts. They also often don’t have crash bars or other features necessary to protect passengers in a collision.
Seat Belts
While riding in a Phoenix airport Limo, it is important to wear seat belts to keep you safe. It is also an important safety precaution if you are in the back seat.
Many people are hesitant to use seat belts when in the back of a vehicle, and they may be unsure of why they should do so. However, it is important to remember that the laws of physics don’t apply just to front-seat passengers.
The National Transportation Safety Board recommends that New York state enact a law requiring all limousine passengers to use seat belts. It also recommends that New York transportation officials check limo seats for belts during their regular inspections.
Distractions
Whether you are riding in a limousine or another type of vehicle, distractions can be dangerous. Especially when you are trying to get to your destination. Distractions are any activities that take your attention away from the primary task of driving, like talking or texting, eating and drinking, fiddling with a radio or entertainment system, and more. They increase your risk of a crash and can result in a collision with a pedestrian or other driver.
A recent study found that drivers are distracted once every six minutes while behind the wheel. The most common distractions were lack of concentration (71.8%), adjusting in-vehicle equipment (68.7%), viewing outside people, objects, or events (57.8%), and talking to passengers (39.8%). While some people know the risks involved in distracted driving, it can be hard to avoid them. Teenagers are particularly vulnerable because they do not understand the dangers of distracted driving and can easily lose their focus on the road.
Lighting
When you are riding in a limousine, it is important to pay attention to the lighting. You want to ensure that you are able to see everything clearly so that you can avoid any potential issues. Many limos come with LED lighting, known for being bright yet using less energy. They also tend to last longer than traditional lights. You can find a variety of different colours on these lights. These include red, blue and green pigment spots that can change intensity.
It’s also possible to find a number of different designs for these lights, such as star lighting or disco floor effects. When you are riding in a limo, it is important to remember that the driver and other passengers are trying to get home safely. Don’t talk loudly, don’t put your feet on the seats, and don’t engage in disruptive behaviour.
Emergency Exits
When riding in a phoenix airport limo service, you should always know how to exit the vehicle. That way, if you get hurt or disabled, you can be safe.
In California, limos must have at least two rear doors, and emergency window exits. The fifth door should be able to be opened by passengers at all times, so you can escape quickly if needed.
Lawmakers in the state have drafted legislation to require emergency exits and fire extinguishers for all limos made after January 1. Democratic Sen. Ellen Corbett of San Leandro drafted the bill in response to recent incidents in which limos caught fire and killed passengers.
In a limo we rented for this story, we discovered that the rear doors are backed up by a partition divider that can’t be opened. Passengers could try to break the windows, but without a tool like a crowbar they’d be limited in their options.
